Graveyards
Kingston has three graveyards:
Old -
The first churchyard surrounded the old church. However, when the church building was sold to be converted to a private residence, many of the gravestones were moved, mostly to the second churchyard. Press notices were published about the removal but no relatives responded and so they were moved according to the Bishop’s directions.
Old -
The second churchyard is situated to the north of the old church, and access is gained over a stile to the east of the old church, across a field (sometimes grazed by cattle) and through a gate. In recent years many of the gravestones have been dislodged by cattle gaining entry to the churchyard when the gate has not been closed properly.
New
The third churchyard surrounds the new church.
