Football Club

In his book ‘My Memories by a Village Carpenter’ (1988), Bob Dorey recalled:

In 1919 we started a Football Club which we called “Kingston Rovers”! I was Secretary. We were fortunate in having the Caines brothers, whose father farmed at Renscombe, Percy Wallace from Worth, two players from Smedmore (where they worked as gardeners) and one from Swanage. Some were so good that Swanage Club tried to bribe them away from us!

We played in the Dorset Minor League, and reached the sixth round for the Minor Cup before being beaten by Wareham!
